General Settings

The General Settings page is where you configure your personal settings for DevMethodVS Tools. Access it from the Visual Studio Tool/Options/DevMethodVS Tools menu.

In the settings page you have the following options

Validation

Select if you want to use branch validation or not. The branch validation is experimental and can give you the wrong validation result depending on the structure of your repo.

This will look for a defined activity on a selected field and validate the state on the work item.

Warn if you pick a work item that is not assigned to you.

When verifying, add the missing related child or parent work items.

Cherry Pick Options

Insert the work items used in the change set as your in-progress work items.

Add text linking the merged change set to your check in.

Azure storage connection

Perform a manual setup, this is usually only necessary one time, as the setup should be exported to an encrypted file for distribution.

Import the connection setup to connect to the shared settings for the project.

Reload the settings from the shared storage and refresh the local cache.

If the DevMethod Tools isn’t used in the project, turn of all features that is shared via the tool. This is not recommended as many features will be unavailable.

Pick and load a valid license file for the product.
